Native Immigrant’s opening for Teiotiokwenhahton - Beadwork: Visions of Peace coincided with the closing of the 25th anniversary event of Présence autochtone at the newly opened Ashukan Cultural Space in Montreal’s Old Port. Among the notable attendees were Ghislain Picard, the Assembly of First Nations regional chief for Quebec and Labrador, André Dudemaine, founder and director of Terre en vues and Présence autochtone. We were also blessed with the presence of Traditional Practitioner, Ateronhiata:kon Francis Boots, and founder of Sacred Fire Productions, Nadine St-Louis. Also in attendance were Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, and the minister responsible for Native Affairs, Geoffrey Kelley.
