About the Event
Atelier Native Immigrant and artist Simin Dohkt Fallah are working together to create a series of workshops on embroidery. Simin has been embroidering ever since she was a teenager and learned the skill from her mother and grandmother.
Participants can expect to learn popular techniques for creating a wide range of patterns (not just flowers!)
By the end of the three sessions, you will be well equipped to use running stitch, backstitch, split stitch, stem stitch, and French knots to create your own unique designs. Satin stitch and Brazilian embroidery techniques will also be included in the lessons.
All materials (fabrics, needles, hoop, thread, etc.) are included in the price of the class!
NOTE: While we highly recommend that participants attend all three classes, you are welcome to attend one or two sessions.*
Session One: The first class will introduce embroidery, including instructions on using the materials and basic stitches. Participants will learn how to embroider three kinds of leaves and three techniques for creating stems.
Session Two: Participants will continue working on the stems and learn two additional techniques. You will also be introduced to techniques for creating the petals of the flowers.
Session Three: Simon will introduce the class to three additional techniques for creating petals and working with more specific materials such as Satin.
*Each class costs $74. If you would like to attend each class, you must sign up and pay for them individually! For any questions please e-mail us at: info@nativeimmigrant.com
