About the Event

Vernissage: July 7th, 2021 5 - 7pm @ Atelier d'art Native Immigrant, 5442 Côte-St-Luc, NDG (Tiohtià:ke - MTL)

L'Atelier d'art Métèque, a pluridisciplinary, intercultural artistic hub located in NDG, is changing stewardship, becoming the Atelier d'art Native Immigrant. We wish to thank Agata Kozanecka and Carolina Echeverria for establishing and maintaining this vibrant space, even through the worst of the pandemic. Hats off to these two wonderful and creative individuals!

We are celebrating this changeover with an inauguratory exhibition of the Native Immigrant (NI) Art Collective with a few special invited guests. The Atelier d'art NI will continue its mandate to bring together diverse cultural communities - First Nations, recent immigrants and colonial descendents - to promote the exchange of stories, gifts, ideas, cosmologies and artistic practices.

It is our belief that one of the best ways to counter the proliferation of racism in our communities is to co-create thru art, thru dialogue, the sharing of food, music via the sharing of a creative space. It is in this spirit that we invite members of the general public, especially residents of the CDN-NDG borough, to our inaugural opening, entitled Native Immigrant en Tiohtià:ke.

Native Immigrant en Tiohtià:ke will feature works of the following artists:

Akawui (musician)

Ivan Atehortua (https://www.solalcomics.com)

Marg Boyle (artist, drummer and traditional craftsperson)

Judith Brisson (http://www.judithdenise.com/, http://warinimage.blogspot.com/?view=mosaic)

)Ksenya Tsoy (alfergani.com

The exhibit will take place from July 7th to August 8th; with the vernissage on July 7th from 5 to 7pm. Join us for a festive, socially-distanced evening of art and music, the perfect antidote to a long year of covid isolation.
