The Slipper Embellishment Workshop with Asma Benaziz is an invitation to embellish and magnify the traditional Quebec slipper with embroidery and beading, thanks to the artistic touch of a talented Algerian-born artist.
This workshop will be given in two sessions, on Saturday March 19 and 26, from 3pm to 5pm at the Native Immigrant Art Workshop. Please be sure to attend both sessions to be able to complete the embellishment of the pair of slippers.
This workshop is offered as part of La pantoufle du quartier (The Neighbourhood Slipper) Project and is the first in a series of slipper embellishment workshops offered by artists of immigrant and indigenous backgrounds to showcase our mixed cultural and plural identity.
This project, part of the MTL Cultural Mediations program, is funded under the Entente sur le développement culturel de Montréal between the City of Montreal and the Government of Quebec.
